The Bookbinder

Nancy Delaney brings over a decade of study and experience to her work.  She apprenticed for five years in Winchester, VA and remained there for an additional five years.  Past projects include the new guest book at the Virginia State House  and the restoration of Clara Barton’s Diary for the U.S. Park Service.   The oldest book she has worked on is a 1611 King James Bible and a 1634 Book of Common Prayer.  The majority of the books she works on are from the 18th and 19th centuries, but she is very comfortable working on both older and new modern books.  She received a B.A. in Art History from West Virginia University and has done additional coursework in general and organic chemistry.  She co-authored Index to Burials in Frederick County, Virginia (Heritage Press, 2nd Edition, 2004).
